Everywhere there were borne to me echoes from homes that have been made brighter by my words. This much desired success encouraged me to hope that if there were published my book might bring comfort or strength to homes which my voice could not reach. Should I be the means of giving a little sunshine even to one unhappy home or of intensifying within one home that is happy the warmth of its sympathy or the holiness of its love, my labors will have received an exceeding great reward, nor will my life have been lived in vain.
