Pamphlet - They Burned a Forest - The Story of Blessed John Forest

by Father Dean Corcoran, O.F.M.Cap.

Blessed John Forest was Provincial of the Observant Friars whose first community in England was established in 1485 at Greenwich near the royal palace. This local brought the Friars into contact with the royal family. "In 1513 Henry eagerly praised the Friars Minor ... 'So much does he admire their holiness of life, that he finds it quite impossible to descrive their merits as they deserv. The present an ideal of Christian poverty, sincerity, and charity. Their lives are devoted to fasting, watching, prayer. They are occupied in hard toil by day and night to win sinners back to God."

Blessed John Forest's steadfast example to us is given in this short but powerful pamphlet.

Imprimatur 1956, 16 pages, softcover.
